As a child, he read books and comic books and watched films and television.
He has written a young adult novel titled Only This Beautiful Moment. He was a writer on shows like Ordinary Joe and Almost Family . His debut novel, The Walk-In Closet, won the Lambda Literary Award for LGBT Debut Fiction.
He lived in Los Angeles with his children and husband. He holds dual citizenship between the United States and Canada.
He was a writer on the 2017 television movie Menendez: Blood Brothers, which told the story of Lyle Menendez and Erik Menendez .
