Her parents refused to give their blessing to Clara Schumann , who wanted to take Adela to Frankfurt to study while she was still a young girl.
She developed a breathtaking repertoire that spanned three centuries. She even included modern works in her performances.
Her family was musical. She had nine older siblings, three of whom were skilled pianists and composers.
Her reputation for technical and creative expertise at the piano spread quickly, to the point that Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky asked to meet her.
