ABOUT ADOLFO CALERO
Businessman and politician who led the Nicaraguan Democratic Force and managed the bank accounts that allowed for the purchase of supplies and weaponry.
He attended the University of Notre Dame and Syracuse University in the United States, before moving back to Nicaragua and managing a Coca-Cola bottling plant.
He testified at U.S. Congressional hearings in 1987 as a key part of the contra wars.
He married Maria Ernestina Lacayo in 1957, and they raised two children together.
He was imprisoned right before Anastasio Garcia was ejected from power in 1979, which he used as a way to prove his opposition to Garcia's rule.
