ABOUT AKHIL SHARMA
Indian-American author and writer who wrote the 2001 novel An Obedient Father, which won the PEN/Hemingway Award. In 2014, he released the autobiographical coming-of-age novel, Family Life. It won the 2015 Folio Prize and 2016 International Dublin Literary Award.
At the young age of eight, he migrated to the United States. At the young age of 15, he started to write short stories.
He earned his B.A. in public policy at Princeton University 's Woodrow Wilson School. In the year 2017, he released a book of short stories titled A Life of Adventure and Delight. He has published stories in publications such as The Atlantic Monthly, The Quarterly, and The New Yorker.
In the year 2020, he married his second wife Christine Mulligan. They have a daughter. When he was ten, an accident left his older brother severely brain-damaged and in a 30-year coma.
At college, he studied under Toni Morrison , Joyce Carol Oates , and Tony Kushner .
