Known for ethical rationalism from which he derived the Principle of Generic Consistency.
He attended Columbia University and graduated with honors in Philosophy.
He had several writings in moral and political philosophy, including Reason and Morality from 1978, Human Rights: Essays on Justification and Applications from 1982, and Self-Fulfillment from 1998.
He fathered five children and had five grandchildren.
He and Alan Watts were contemporaries.
