ABOUT ALAN SHORT
American politician who is known for his Community Mental Health Service Act of 1957 which was signed into law by Governor Goodwin Knight and served as the California State Senate from 1954 until 1974.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and graduated from Hastings College of Law.
He served as chairman of the California Senate Select Committee on Laws Relating to Alcoholic Beverages from 1972 until 1974.
He married photographer Mary Short.
Like him, Doug LaMalfa served in the California State Senate.
