He obtained his BA in Journalism from Whitworth College in Washington. He earned his MSc in Communication from Eastern Washington University .
He wrote for various American newspapers and worked for television stations including PBS in Seattle, Washington.
In 2014, he divorced his first wife Dr Josphine Thitu. The couple had three children. In 2021, he ended his second marriage to Lilian Nga'ng'a.
He and William Ruto are both famous Kenyan politicians.
