ABOUT ALFREDO DI STEFANO

Forward who excelled with Real Madrid, leading the club to five straight European Cup wins from 1956 to 1960 and scoring 216 goals during his 11 years with the club. He played on a total of 5 teams throughout his senior career. He managed a myriad of teams from 1967 until 1991.

He incurred a great deal of controversy when he transferred from Argentina to Spain, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid trying to secure him.

He played for Colombia, Argentina, and Spain in international matches. He finished his professional playing career with Espanyol from 1964 until 1966.

His grandfather on his father's side was a French immigrant to Argentina, and his mother had a French and Irish background.

He and Raul Gonzalez both scored more than 200 goals during their careers with Real Madrid.
