ABOUT ALGIRDAS JULIEN GREIMAS
A Lithuanian linguist who was known as one of the most prominent of the French semioticians.
He studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and specialized in lexicography.
He added to the theory of signification and laid out the foundations for the Paris School of Semiotics.
He married Teresa Mary Keane.
He and Roland Barthes were considered the most important French semioticians of their time.
