ABOUT ANDRé D. CARSON

American politician who is best known for serving as the US representative for Indiana's 7th congressional district. He began serving in 2008. He is a member of the Democratic Party and his district includes the northern four-fifths of Indianapolis. He became the dean of Indiana's congressional delegation after Representative Pete Visclosky retired in 2021.

He is a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice management from Concordia University-Wisconsin and a master's in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University .

Before taking office, he served on the Indianapolis City-County Council and worked full-time in law enforcement. He also worked in intelligence and counter-terrorism for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

He is the grandson of Julia Carson, who was a US Representative from 1997 to 2007.He was married to Mariama Shaheed until 2016.

In February 2023, he posted a photo alongside Joe Biden and Jill Biden .
