Bassist who is best known as a member of Prince 's touring band in the late 1970s until 1981. He went on to have a solo career in which he released albums like AC in 1985 and The Stone in 2014.

He lived with Prince when he was growing up after Prince left his own home due to tensions with his father.

His song "Better Way" is on the Beverly Hills Cop 2 soundtrack which was released in 1987.

His father was a musician and his mother was a social worker and he was the youngest of six children.

The first band that he was in was called Grand Central, and it featured Morris Day .
