He had a distinguished career at Michigan State University, with 30 receptions for 709 yards and five touchdowns.

He set a league record by scoring touchdowns with seven different NFL teams. He earned the nicknames "Bad Moon" and "Spiderman" throughout his professional career.

He fathered two children with his wife, Tonja, whom he divorced in 1990.

His nickname, Bad Moon, came from the song by Tom Fogerty 's Creedence Clearwater Revival.
