ABOUT ANDREI CHIKATILO

Serial killer and rapist responsible for at least fifty-three murders in the Soviet Union. He killed his victims -- all women and children -- during the late 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s.

He was an excellent student who, at the age of fourteen, began editing his school's newspaper.

He confessed to fifty-six murders, although he was only held accountable for fifty-three of them.

His marriage to Feodosia Odnacheva produced a son and a daughter.

The film Evilenko, starring Malcolm McDowell , was based on Chikatilo's murders.
