Anne Gorsuch Burford
ABOUT ANNE GORSUCH BURFORD
Politician who was the first female Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from 1981 to 1983. She was the first agency director in U.S. history to be cited for contempt of Congress after she refused to hand over records involving the $1.6 billion toxic waste Superfund to Congress.
She studied at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and then attended the University of Colorado Law School.
She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study criminal law in Jaipur, India.
She married David Gorsuch and had two children.
She and Renee Fleming both received Fulbright Scholarships.
