Anton Adriaan Mussert
ABOUT ANTON ADRIAAN MUSSERT
Political figure who co-founded the National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands. He served as the movement's figurehead until the party was banned in 1945. He was executed in 1946 for treason and crimes against humanity.
He studied civil engineering at the Delft University of Technology.
In 1941, he oversaw the formation of the 23rd SS Volunteer Panzer Grenadier Division Nederland. He was a member of the Liberal State Party before founding the National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands.
He was married to Maria Witlam.
He collaborated with Adolf Hitler 's German occupation government.
