ABOUT ARMANDO CALDERON SOL
Salvadoran politician who was the President of El Salvador from 1994 to 1999. He represented the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) party, which he founded in 1981.
He promoted physical exercise and initiated a bicycle circuit in the San Jacinto neighborhood on Avenida Cuba while serving as Mayor of San Salvador from 1988 to 1994.
He advocated the privatization of state-owned telephone companies and pension funds to try to boost the Salvadoran economy and modernize the country's infrastructure while President.
He married Elizabeth Aguirre de Calderon in 1977.
He was President of El Salvador while Bill Clinton was President of the United States.
