ABOUT ARTHUR BAKER
Record producer and DJ who worked primarily within the hip hop genre, collaborating with the likes of New Order, Afrika Bambaataa , and Planet Patrol.
He had a successful single, Happy Days, with Emergency Records in 1981.
He assisted Bob Dylan on 'Empire Burlesque' in 1985, serving as mixer and arranger; he also collaborated with Little Steven Van Zandt on Sun City, the Artists United Against Apartheid's anti-apartheid anthem.
His family raised him in Boston, where he became a club DJ in the early 1970s and was known for having little patience for songs that didn't go over with the crowd, usually breaking the record on the dance floor.
He produced dance remixes of the Bruce Springsteen songs Dancing in the Dark, Cover Me, and Born in the U.S.A. in 1983.
