Known for his mastery of late Romantic-era composers. His style was applauded for its elegance, freedom, and poetry.
He began studying at the Odessa Music Academy when he was seven.
He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1946 because of the many recitals he performed for servicemen and charities during World War II.
His wife Daisy Kennedy was an Australian concert violinist. They had three children: Sandra, future set designer Tanya Moiseiwitsch, and Bruno.
He was only nine when he was awarded the Anton Rubinstein Prize.
