ABOUT BERNIE MATTHEW

An actor, social media personality, and activist, he delivered acclaimed performances in several short films; attracted a Twitter fan base of over one million in less than five years; and served as an ambassador for the LGBT rights organizations the TrevorProject and GLAAD.

He began his entertainment career by appearing in theatrical productions of Romeo & Juliet, Julius Caesar, Oklahoma!, and Grease.

He starred in the 2012 Canadian television movie Saint Sanguinus.

Born Bernie Matthew Rau, he spent his early years in Rochester, New York and Nova Scotia, Canada.

He and fellow actor and activist Chris Salvatore both contributed to the "It Gets Better" campaign.
