She was raised on a dairy farm in Bowraville, New South Wales. After high school she worked as a restaurant manager in Ballina.
Since starring on MasterChef Australia, her social presence grew to over 15,000 followers on Twitter.
Born to Alison and David McKay, she is one of five children. Her siblings are Georgie, Frankie, Joe, and Rosie.
She was preceded as the winner of MasterChef Australia by Brent Owens .
