Longtime sports broadcaster specializing in college basketball. He worked as a color analyst for over three decades. He primarily worked in television coverage of basketball.
He was a starting guard at Wake Forest, helping the team win the ACC twice and reach the Final Four as well.
He famously called the historic 1983 NC State upset over Houston in the NCAA men's basketball championship game. He was the author of the book Hoops, Why We Win, and wrote multiple other basketball books.
Both of his sons began working in sports media as well.
He worked alongside Brent Musburger during many college sports games.
