Restaurateur who created the successful Bob Evans chain and Owens Country Sausage line.
He started making his own sausage in 1948.
His company also opened the Mimi's Cafe restaurant chain. At one point the Bob Evans chain was spread across nearly 20 states, with nearly 500 restaurant locations. The first ever Bob Evans restaurant was opened in 1946, and it served food 24-hours a day, with only 12 diner-style stools.
He was born in Sugar Ridge, Ohio. He fathered six children with wife Jewelle Victoria Waters.
He and Jimmy Dean were both 20th-century sausage entrepreneurs.
