ABOUT BOB VALVANO

Longtime voice of the University of Louisville men's basketball team on both radio and TV, also covered Big East basketball for ESPN.

He graduated with honors from Virginia Wesleyan College, with a major in communication while lettering in three sports, for which he was inducted into the College Sports Hall of Fame.

Nationally, he hosted The V Show on ESPN radio, which aired from 1 to 4 A.M. weekdays.

His brother Jim Valvano coached the North Carolina State men's basketball team.

He called a number of Louisville Cardinals games coached by the great Rick Pitino .
