ABOUT BOBBY PHILLS
Basketball player whose life was cut tragically short when he was killed in a car wreck in January 2000. He is best remembered by NBA fans for his days with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Charlotte Hornets.
He attended Southern University in Louisiana and was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1991 NBA Draft.
His #13 jersey was retired by the Hornets a month after his death, making his jersey the first to be retired by the organization.
He is survived by his wife, Kendall, and three children.
He was killed while following Hornets teammates David Wesley at over 75 miles per hour.
