Film director, filmmaker, Instagram star, online content creator, social media personality, musician, entertainer, and rapper who released his feature-film directorial debut called Sorry to Bother You in 2016. He also released the 2020 series I'm a Virgo on Amazon Prime.
He grew up in Detroit and Oakland where he became interested in politics. He joined the International Committee Against Racism at age 14 and the Progressive Labor Party at age 15.
He formed the political rap group The Coup with E-roc in 1991. They released one track on the compilation album called Dope Like a Pound or a Key that same year. He has over 110,000 followers on his bootsriley Instagram account.
His father is Walter Riley.
He has worked with actors Lakeith Stanfield and Tessa Thompson .
