He began racing at the age of 12 in kart racing in the Junior Shifter Kart Association.
He was the 2002 Mesa Marin Raceway Super Late Model Champion.
He raced in the #68 truck owned by his father in 2003.
He made his Busch Series debut as part of Richard Childress ' team at Kansas Speedway in 2004.
