ABOUT BUCK BAKER

NASCAR Champion took part in its inaugural races, and finished among the all-time leaders in career starts and wins.

He became an adept driver while driving bootleg liquor through the Carolinas.

He won his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in 1952; four years later he had compiled 14 wins, two poles, and the Grand National Championship.

His son Buddy Baker was also a great NASCAR driver, winning the 1980 Daytona 500 with a record time.

He opened up Buck Baker Racing School after his retirement in 1976. Jeff Gordon eventually drove his first stock car at the school.
