ABOUT BURTON GREENE
Free jazz artist who became popular in the 1960s and later experimented with the Klezmer medium and avant-garde jazz.
He and Alan Silva founded the Free Form Improvisation Ensemble in 1963.
He moved to the Netherlands in 1969, becoming a journeyman performer, traversing Europe, and living on a houseboat.
His family recognized his musical prowess and enrolled him as a student of classical music at Chicago's Fine Arts Academy.
He performed with Sam Rivers during his early years.
