American philosopher and academic most known for his teachings at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from UCLA in 1977.

He became highly respected for his published teachings on both the philosophy of logic and language and was known among the members of the community for his articulation and incredible intelligence.

He was born and raised in California.

He and footballer Gary Beban both attended UCLA.
