Australian cyclist most recognized for winning the Tour de France in 2011. His cycling fame has led him to accumulate more than 280,000 followers on his CadelOfficial X profile.
He got his start by landing a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport Mountain Bike Program, where he trained under cycling coach Damien Grundy.
He won the World Road Race Championships in 2009. He retired from cycling in 2015.
He married Chiara Passerini in 2005 and they adopted their first son, Robel, in 2012.
He and fellow cyclist Marshall Taylor are known to be among the top competitors in their sport.
