ABOUT CARLOS MCKINNEY

Grammy Award-winning jazz artist who played with Wynston Marsalis and produced records for many popular acts.

He began playing with R&B group Identity Band at the age of 12 and was a student of classical music from 1983 until 1991 at the Center for Creative Studies.

He toured all over Europe and in Senegal, Iceland, and Turkey.

He was the scion of a prominent Detroit jazz family and was mentored by his uncle, Harold McKinney, beginning at age four.

He worked with many Top-40 acts of his time, including Mariah Carey , R. Kelly, and Jordin Sparks.
