ABOUT CECELIA ANN CONDIT

Video artist, filmmaker, and director known for creating contemporary horror, fairy tales, dreams and poetry. Her films attempt to subvert traditional mythologies of female representation and psychologies of sexuality and violence. Her 1983 short film Possibly in Michigan became a viral hit on TikTok.

She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania .

She was a professor emerita in the Department of Film, Video, Animation & New Genres at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her work has appeared in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and Centre Georges Pompidou Musee National d'Art Moderne, Paris, France.

Her 1981 short film Beneath the Skin was inspired by her real-life boyfriend, Ira Einhorn, also known as the Unicorn Killer.  She has sons named Schuyler and Lloyd Vogel.

After seeing The Silence of the Lambs for the first time, she had an overwhelming sense of being stalked by Hannibal Lecter, played by Anthony Hopkins .
