Renowned Maltese composer of folk-inspired works such as Malta Suite and Maltese Dances.
He began composing music when he was a teenager.
He studied European, Asian, and African music and incorporated elements from all of these traditions into his orchestral, chamber music, and vocal works.
His family lived in the Maltese village of Hamrun at the time of his birth.
His organ work Missa Mundi was once compared to Igor Stravinsky 's masterpiece The Rite of Spring.
