Father to one of the greatest film directors of all time, Martin Scorsese . He has appeared in a number of his son's films including The King of Comedy, The Color of Money, Goodfellas, and Cape Fear.

He made his first film appearance in his son's film Raging Bull as Charlie.

He had uncredited roles in After Hours, The Hard Way, and The Age of Innocence.

He was married to actress Catherine Scorsese from 1933 until he passed away.

The majority of his son's films that he appeared in starred Robert De Niro .
