ABOUT CHARLIE MARTIN

He raced in the first ever Hungarian Grand Prix in 1936, while driving an Alfa Romeo.

He did his amateur racing on the Lancashire coast as a young man, before graduating to the professional ranks.

He often raced Bugattis, at the height of their racing prominence.

He was married to Joy Martin, and lived in Notting Hill, London, until his death.

In 1936 he raced in the inaugural Hungarian Grand Prix which, many years later, was won by Michael Schumacher .
