7'0" center who was selected second overall in the 2022 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder after spending one season at Gonzaga University . He helped Gonzaga earn the No. 1 overall seed in the 2021-22 NCAA tournament. He stands at 7 feet tall.

He helped Minnehaha Academy win Class 2A state championships during both his freshman and sophomore years. He led Minnehaha Academy to a 25-3 record as a junior in 2019-20. He was ranked as the #1 prospect in the high school class of 2021 by ESPN.

He attended Stephen Curry 's SC30 Select Camp in 2019. He has gained a large following on his chet_holmgren Instagram account for his basketball content.

His father Dave played college basketball for the University of Minnesota in the 1980s.

He was selected one pick behind Duke forward Paolo Banchero in the 2022 NBA draft.
