ABOUT COBUS REINACH

Professional rugby player who began playing as a scrum-half for Montpellier Hérault Rugby in 2020. He has also played with the South African national rugby union team, which is called the Springboks, for several years including 2019. That was when the team enjoyed its Rugby World Cup victory in Yokohama, Japan. He has also played for clubs including the Northampton Saints and the Sharks.

He started his youth career in the year 2008 with the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. He moved to the Sharks' youth academy in the year 2009 and made his senior career debut just two years later.

During a match against Canada in the 2019 Rugby World Cup, he scored the fastest hat-trick in Rugby World Cup History in a 66-7 victory.

He is the son of former Springbok rugby winger Jaco Reinach. He and his wife Frances are the parents of a son named Richard and a daughter named Elia.

He was promoted to back-up scrum-half for the final two home games of the 2014 Rugby Championship against Australia and New Zealand after Ruan Pienaar suffered an injury. He later made his international debut as a replacement for Francois Hougaard .
