ABOUT CONSTANCE KEENE
Remembered for her masterful recordings of such legends as Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn, Johann Nepomuk Hummel , and Carl Maria von Weber .
She was the winner of the 1943 Naumburg Piano Competition.
She was a member of the Manhattan School of Music piano faculty as well as its Board of Trustees.
She was married twice: first to Abram Chasins , with whom she had once studied, then to Milton Kean.
She once replaced Vladimir Horowitz when he couldn't make a concert. According to her account, she was the only female pianist to have ever done this.
