Model, actress, and multiple-Emmy winning journalist who was KDFW's first Asian-American news anchor. In 1985, she won Miss Chinatown USA. She was the first Asian American to win the Star Search competition in the year 1988.

She attended UCLA , where she majored in political science and international relations and minored in Asian American studies.

She played Romulan Ambassador Caithlin Dar in the movie Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. She also appeared in Matlock , Freddy's Nightmares, and China Beach. She has amassed more than 300,000 followers on her cynthiagouw TikTok account.

In 2004, she married Douglas A. Alexander. She has a daughter and two step-children.

In 2002, it was reported that she was dating Prince Andrew, Duke of York .
