ABOUT DABNEY COLEMAN
Frequently seen as a comic relief villain, he received his first Emmy nomination for his role in Buffalo Bill and also received praise for his work on The Guardian TV series and two seasons on HBO's Boardwalk Empire . He amassed over 180 different acting roles throughout his long career.
He studied law at the University of Texas and was drafted into the U.S. Army.
He was known for roles in The Beverly Hillbillies and WarGames. In 1987 he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his role in the TV series Sworn to Silence. He also won a Golden Globe Award in 1988 for his work in The Slap Maxwell Story.
He married his second wife, Jean Hale, in 1961, two years after divorcing his first wife, Ann Harrell.
He starred in the romantic comedy film You've Got Mail with Tom Hanks .
