Former educator who married rock legend Tom Petty in the year 2001. She remained married to Petty until his death in October of 2017. She found him unresponsive and not breathing in their Malibu house.

She and Tom Petty first met at a concert in the year 1991 in Houston, Texas. They were both married to other people at the time.

In the year 2019, she and her two stepdaughters resolved their litigation and united to run her late husband's estate. In a joint statement they said, "We are committed to honoring Tom's voice, music, integrity, and his charitable spirit."

She has a child named Dylan. She has stepdaughters named Adria Petty and Annakim Petty.

Her husband collaborated with Stevie Nicks and Bob Dylan .
