In an incident that horrified World Wrestling Entertainment fans, this child was tragically murdered by his father, professional wrestler Chris Benoit . During the same June weekend in which he shot his son, Benoit also killed his wife and, ultimately, himself.

He was born in Fayetteville, Georgia.

In the days following Daniel's murder, media reports noted that the young boy may have suffered from a genetic disorder known as Fragile X syndrome, though these reports were never confirmed.

Through his father's first marriage, he had a half-sister named Megan and a half-brother named David. He was the only child born to Daniel and Nancy Benoit.

At the time of his heinous crime, Chris Benoit was likely under the influence of both steroids and alcohol. In addition, he was experiencing severe marital problems and may have been suffering from brain damage brought on by his wrestling matches.
