ABOUT DANIEL PETRIE

Canadian film director who won multiple awards and inspired his children to continue working in Hollywood.

He moved to the United States at the age of 25.

He directed the 1961 Cannes Film Festival winner A Raisin in the Sun.

His sons Daniel and Donald Petrie also became noted filmmakers.

He gave Wynona Ryder one of her earliest on-screen appearances in his film Square Dance.
