Swing pianist who loaned his sound to many of the top Dixieland musicians of his age.
He started out in his teens playing with jazzmen like Charlie Ventura.
He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and, much to the dismay of some in his audience, would listen to games on his radio while playing.
He had two sons with his wife, Frances.
He recorded with Louis Armstrong at the 1970 Newport Jazz Festival.
