ABOUT DAVID HARBOUR

Actor who rose to fame for his role as Police Chief Jim Hopper in the 2016 hit Netflix series Stranger Things . He plays the character Dexter Tolliver in the 2016 film Suicide Squad . He also stars as the title character in the 2019 film Hellboy and he was cast as Red Guardian in the 2021 film Black Widow .

He got his professional start on Broadway in the 1999 revival of The Rainmaker. He was later nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf ? in 2005.

He won a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2016 for Oustanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for Stranger Things. He plays news anchor Elliot Hirsch on the HBO series The Newsroom and also appeared as CIA operative Gregg Beam in Quantum of Solace .

He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1997. He has a sister. In 2020, he married pop singer Lily Allen . They split up in late 2024. He previously dated Maria Thayer and Alison Sudol .

He appeared in Brokeback Mountain starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal .
