ABOUT DAVID L. LAWRENCE
Politician who became the first former mayor to be elected Governor of Pennsylvania in 1959. He was previously the mayor of Pittsburgh from 1946 through 1959.
He worked as a file clerk for a Pittsburgh attorney.
He created the Finnegan Foundation, a non-profit educational program, during his time as an elected official.
He had two children with his wife Alyce Lawrence and died after never recovering from a fall at a local rally in 1966.
He attended one of the first National Democratic Conventions that helped nominate Franklin D. Roosevelt for President.
