ABOUT DENNIS IRWIN

Jazz double bassist who appeared on more than five hundred records over the course of his life.

He attended North Texas State University to study classical music and moved to New York City after he graduated where he landed his first steady gig with Ted Curson's band.

The Dennis Irwin Memorial Fund was established by the The Jazz Foundation of America and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center for uninsured jazz musicians to have access to cancer screenings.

He was romantically involved with Aria Hendricks.

Irwin played with Art Blakely from 1977 to 1980.
