ABOUT DEVIL ANSE HATFIELD
American Civil War veteran best known as the patriarch of the Hatfield family, whose feud with the McCoy family has become American folklore.
He was born William Anderson Hatfield and was a Confederate guerrilla during the American Civil War.
A life-sized Italian marble statue of him was erected atop his West Virginia grave.
He fathered thirteen children.
His family's feud with the McCoys was dramatized in the History Channel mini-series Hatfields & McCoys, starring Kevin Costner .
