Point guard for the University of Kansas . He received offers from UCLA and the University of North Carolina before committing to the Jayhawks. He has played on 3 teams throughout his professional career.

He began playing basketball at age four.

In December 2019 he was named Big 12 player of the week. He has gained a significant following on his ddotson_1 Instagram account, where he posts basketball and lifestyle content.

His parent's names are Dana and Angela Dotson. He has a brother named Dalen and a sister named Ashlyn.

After college he went on to sign with the Chicago Bulls to play for their G League Affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.
