ABOUT DIAHANN CARROLL
African-American actress who received widespread attention for her starring role in the racially progressive sitcom Julia. In the late 1960's, she became one of the first female African-American bonafide stars in the film industry.
She began modeling at age 15 for Ebony magazine.
She played Dominique Deveraux on Dynasty. Throughout her career, she received multiple Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe Award Nominations, ultimately winning one Golden Globe, in 1969, for Best TV Star in the show Julia.
She married three times before marrying Monte Kay in 1956. She had a daughter named Suzanne .
She was in the series Dynasty with John Forsythe .
